So with the first assignment due date fastly approaching I am left pondering the question of what to do for my web artefact?? This is the question that I have been anxiously aware of but trying my hardest to avoid for the past week or so!! The only thing placing my mind at ease is the fact that I already know the three reasons why I will be using ICT in the classroom making for one less stress. Now just to figure out how to show off this information (web artefact) in a fun and engaging way but also choosing the right type of artefact that I can organise and design with minimal amounts of stress.
So my options that I have come up with through looking at previous assignments as well as hearing other opinions on what other students are considering are a weebly website, a youtube video, a prezi or a glogster.
Create a website where I have a home page which introduces what the web artefact is about and then design a page each surrounding the 3 reasons why I will be using ICT in the classroom. Each page will contain information, pictures, videos as well as navigation bars so that readers are able to easily navigate around the site. A potential idea is having a speaker button on each page so that parents can choose whether or not they want to listen to the information being presented or whether they want to read it themselves.
Advantages – Similar to blogging so I feel familiar with the concept, can arrange the information in an easy format, can focus more on the information that is being used and not be completely overwhelmed by the ICT being used
Disadvantages – May appear essay like with the information, may appear to be the safe option, may be boring and not all that appealing or engaging

Create a youtube video where I talk to the parents about the reasons why I will be using ICT within the classroom. I can talk about my ideas and then back them up with extra information from presentations, articles or videos that I have found.
Advantages – There will be no reading parents just have to watch the presentation, somewhat familiar with making videos
Disadvantages – There is no interactive nature, can be quite boring to just watch something, will be fiddly to incorporate other pieces of media into a video, will have to record myself within the video

A prezi presentation is in between a powerpoint presentation and video that is created on the prezi website and can be shared in many different formats. This can be done by creating slides based on why I will be using ICT in the classroom and inserting pictures and videos as well as narrating what is being presented in the slides.
Advantages – It is a similar concept to powerpoint so I am familiar with it, it is also a video so there is no reading for the parents
Disadvantages – It is an unfamiliar type of ICT for me so it may take a while for me to figure out, it may be quite boring to just watch the presentation, there is no interactive nature

Glogster is a digital media paper that can include text, pictures, videos, graphics, sounds, data and drawings. I can create a poster with the question why use ICT in my classroom and then create graphics for each of the 3 reasons. Each reasons can have a blurb, video and some pictures to support each of the reasons. This can be fun and interactive for the parents and very visually pleasing.
Advantages – Most engaging option for parents, good range of all kinds of medias, fun, will be a great future resource to have when teaching in schools as great idea for assignments but you need to know the ICT before you expect your students to use it
Disadvantages – unfamiliar so will take time to learn it, pricing
